Leader Transformation Grant

PSESD and its partners are the proud recipients of a LEADER Initiative Transformation Grant! 

Leaders in Education Advancing Diversity, Equity and Racial Justice (LEADER) is a multi-system, $1.75 million over 7-year initiative funded through the generosity of College Spark. 

Our 2024-2027 regional strategy to achieve a workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities through these primary strategies:

STRATEGY #1:

Strengthening District, School and Community Climates to Retain Educators of Color
  • Strengthen Educators of Color Leadership Communities (ECLC) in districts and across region
  • Learn from and build on district and regional Leadership Profiles work
  • Foster transparent, shared metrics, and measurement practices for retention and thriving

STRATEGY #2:

Accessible and Transformative Teacher Preparation Pathways
  • Create a pilot program of an accessible degree and teacher preparation program for paraeducators in Federal Way and Auburn to complete their AA, BAS and Teacher Certification at Highline College.
  • Facilitate higher education spaces to continue collaboration to support educator of color teacher candidates.

STRATEGY #3:

Creating the Conditions and Partnerships for the Career and Leadership Growth of Educators of Color
  • Develop regional mentoring system and antiracist leadership through ECLC and Teach4Liberation.
  • Work with Seattle Central and Academy for Rising Educators faculty to support community of practice and regional support for Healing Centered Engagement practices.

LEADER Initiative

PSESD in partnership with districts, higher education and community partners spent 2022-2024 building and strengthening relationships and identifying priorities for transforming the Educator ecosystem.

LEADER is a community-driven initiative focused on elevating community representation in Washington’s education workforce. Supported by $13.8 million in funding by College Spark Washington, this effort brings together regional teams of Education Service Districts, Educator and Principal Prep Programs, Districts, Community Organizations, and Tribes working to:
