Educators and Supervisor Registration
The Educators of Color Leadership Community is continually adapting!
We acknowledge the challenges our educators and districts are facing due to staffing and substitute teacher shortages. Additionally, we continue to be mindful of the impacts of large in-person gatherings.
FOR THE 2022-23 school year, there will be multiple opportunities to participate in the ECLC community:
OPTION 1: Attend in person community building meetings with those in proximity to you! Either attend the morning or the afternoon (of course stay all day if you can).
11/2/22 (North & East side schools) @ Renton ESD Building
11/16/22 (South & West side schools) @ WEA's Federal Way Building
6/7/23 ALL of ECLC @ TBD!
OPTION 2: Attend Affinity groups which will be organized by ethnic/racial identity and by role. Sessions will be approximately 1 hr-90 minutes long. A schedule of affinity group meetings will be released once we have garnered interest and found facilitators. Previous affinity groups have been:
Black/African American
Latinx
Asian/Asian American
Indigenous/Native American/Pacific Islander
Multiracial/Multi Ethnic ("100 percent of everything I am")
Affinity groups by role:
Special Education Educators
Equity Leads
New teachers
Administrators
Family Engagement Specialists
Affinity groups can be added as participant interest grows, so share your ideas!
OPTION 3: Attend VIRTUAL ECLC Sessions (morning or afternoon sessions)
1/11/23 on ZOOM
3/1/23 on ZOOM
OPTION 4: Monthly DROP-INs (Teams/Zoom)
March 22nd on ZOOM
April 5th on ZOOM
May 3rd on ZOOM
If you are NEW to ECLC, please complete the intake form (below) so that we can ensure you have the support in place to participate. If you are a previously enrolled participant, you do not need to complete the intake form UNLESS your supervisor has changed.

*OPTION 5: ECLC in Your District
Principals, supervisors and participants: We are balancing the need to honor retention, support and relationship-building for our Black, Indigenous and Educators of Color with the reality of the substitute shortage.
If you cannot provide substitutes for your Educators of Color, please contact Eileen Yoshina about Option 5:
ECLC in Your District will be tailored to your needs and schedule. There will be a fee for service (negotiable).
An example:
You might arrange for 3 90-minute sessions of ECLC for your district Educators of Color on a district or state PD day; or as an after school PD session, for which the district commits to compensate participants.
Regional ECLC members will facilitate sessions on topics relevant to Educator of Color growth and retention, which might include (but is not limited to):
--Community Cultural Abundance
--Inter-generational wisdom and relationship building
--Healing ourselves and our communities from internalized racism
--Mentoring/resource-sharing/professional growth for BIPOC educators
--Topics co-created with your community!
